Flight Attendant/Cabin Crew Interview Process

This post will entail the whole process that I went through to get the job as a cabin crew from sending your CV to the training process. The whole process took from Dec-May that was when the training started which I will talk about later in the post about the length and what it includes.

I just got out of uni and thought about what I would like to do after studying. I just wanted to play and travel the world a bit before entering the adult world. But knowing my parents will want me to have a stable job and income is probably their first thought before I even graduated, to get them off my back I searched what I wanted to do that was related to my major and just didn’t find anything I fancy; not that I’m being picky or anything. Then my uni friend messaged me saying that she applied for cabin crew and told me to try so I was like what’s his harm in that and went for it and just sent my cv to the company.

After around a few days I got a phone call from an unknown number not thinking anything I just picked it up and they told me they wanted to have an interview in around week times. But I found that most airline companies will mostly call you as the next process will likely eliminate a most of the people.

A week filled with excitement turned to a panicking moment when the interview day arrived. When I got to the airport I was told to wait by an area and they will have a staff take you up to their office. When everyone arrived they took out a post stick note and drew a line around half way and stuck it on the wall next to a door. Whoever passed the height test was able to go to in the room to go through the interview. Those that can’t pass the height test will be sent home. The height was around 153cm (not 100% sure but around that height). The interview was group based that was split into two groups, they would give you a topic which at that time I got what are the cons about the company intangible and tangible products after 5-10 mind you need to present the idea. This interview I think just shows your ability to work as a team, outspoken with ideas and isn’t shy to talk to a group.

After this stage, you will hopefully get a phone call that says you’ve passed to the next stage for another interview but this time it’s one on one. The interview was taken in the sample place as the group interview but this time it’s a much smaller group of people taking turns to do the interview. for my interview they didn't ask me any previous job experience or how would you resolve duh and duh, which I actually prepared to answer. They asked me where do I see myself in 5 years time; what are my pros and cons. they showed me this image of a plane with a captain or passenger can't remember doing something wrong and asked you what your first reaction would be. my interview was relatively short compared to others one reason might be because it's my first job so no prior experience that I can tell.

I still remember that I performed not that well in the interview so I wasn’t really expecting good news when I got the phone call. But thankfully they told me I passed but I still needed to do the body check to be able to get the job. They have a specific company place to get your body checked but they need to do the x-ray stuff at another hospital around 10 mins drive. They ask if your got scars, moles and they are very particular with tattoos on your body. They ask you simple questions like you got motion sickness and any medication you take or drugs; take your height, the blood sample. Just the basic body examination.

After that, you wait around a week like the rest of the stages on if the got the job or not from the health examination.  They then send you the contract and you read carefully and send it back, they will call you again and set up another meeting that entails information on the training; what you need to bring and what it will include; some documents that you might need to bring for them to photocopy (passport, birth certificate, education certificate, NI, card details and etc); you meet everyone that will be training with you for 6-7 weeks.
Whilst they photocopy the documents one by one will get tested on their language that they mentioned on the CV as they will need to make PA (Public Announcements) also one of the requirements that are needed is Good English and another language as well.

After this meeting, they will set another date where you will need to get to the training centre which is located abroad for my company.

This is just how my interview went through  with this particular company not all airline companies will have these same specific requiments or process.

I will post another post on what the training included and my feeling about it.

Thanks for reading
